The Algoma University Business Society is always looking for dedicated members passionate about entrepreneurship, leadership, and business skills. As a member, you will have the opportunity to help us organize networking opportunities, workshops, and events that will help our members develop their business acumen and connect with industry leaders.
VP Corporate Relations

Vice President of Corporate Relations is part of the Corporate Relations Portfolio and is responsible for, but not limited to:
​

Creating a sponsorship package that will go out to all prospective supporters;

Create a list of/add to, current sponsors for contacting with this package;
-
Work on getting local businesses as sponsors and have some sponsors be involved in all events (ex, platinum sponsor name goes on all events);
-
Focus on relationship management with sponsors;
-
Make the value of sponsorship very apparent;
-
Collect and maintain data on sponsors and alumni;
-
In the event that any Corporate Relations Team Members is/are absent and unable to fulfill their duties for any extended period shall either perform or appoint someone to take care of those duties;

Director of Corporate Relations

The Director of Corporate Relations is part of the Corporate Relations Portfolio and is responsible for, but not limited to:

Assist the VP of Corporate Relations in developing and maintaining relationships with corporate sponsors and partners.
-
Create and manage sponsorship packages tailored to prospective and current sponsors.
-
Identify and engage with potential sponsors, focusing on building long-term partnerships.
-
Maintain a database of sponsors, ensuring all contact information and sponsorship details are up to date.
-
Coordinate sponsorship activities for all events, ensuring sponsor visibility and engagement.
-
Organize regular meetings and communication with sponsors to strengthen relationships.
-
Develop and implement strategies to demonstrate the value of sponsorship to prospective and current sponsors.
-
Collaborate with other departments to ensure sponsor integration and alignment with organizational goals.
-
Handle sponsor inquiries and resolve any issues that may arise.
VP Human Resource
The Vice President of Human Resources is part of the Human Resources Portfolio and is responsible for, but not limited to:

Preferred to be specializing in Human Resources

Lead and manage the overseeing of all HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, training, and development.

Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.

Oversee the recruitment and interview processes to ensure AUBS attracts top talent.
-
Organize and manage HR events to promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
-
Maintain and update the AUBS’s handbook, ensuring compliance with current laws and regulations.
-
Establish and manage disciplinary procedures to address member grievances and conflicts.
-
Conduct regular member surveys to gather feedback and improve member satisfaction and engagement.
-
Develop and coordinate training and skill development programs to enhance member capabilities.
-
Prepare and present monthly division reports to the executive team, providing insights and recommendations on HR-related matters.
Director of Human Resources

The Director of Human Resources is part of the Human Resources Portfolio and is responsible for, but not limited to:
​

Assist the VP of HR in the execution of HR strategies and initiatives.
-
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the HR department, ensuring efficient and effective processes.
-
Coordinate the recruitment process, including posting job vacancies, screening resumes, and conducting interviews.
-
Manage the onboarding process for new members, ensuring a smooth integration into the organization.
-
Develop and maintain the organization’s HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with legal standards.
-
Organize training and development programs to support member growth and professional development.
-
Handle member relations issues, including conflict resolution and disciplinary actions.
-
Conduct regular member performance evaluations and provide feedback to support continuous improvement.
-
Maintain accurate and up-to-date member records.
VP Events

The Vice President of Events is part of the Events Portfolio and is responsible for, but not limited to:
​

Coordinating with the Events Team in the planning and execution of all Society events;
-
Act as a liaison to the local community;
-
Act as a liaison with all other academic institutions;
-
Responsible for organizing major conferences.

Responsible for finalizing budget, purchasing list, and required resources for all major events
-
Creating and maintaining an inventory tracking system for all supplies and materials purchased on behalf of AUBS
-
In the event that any Events Team Member is/are absent and unable to fulfill their duties for any extended period shall either perform or appoint someone to take care of those duties;

Director of Events

The Events Assistant is part of the Events Portfolio and is responsible for, but not limited to:
​

Coordinate with the VP of Events in the planning and execution of all Society events
-
Ensuring that Algoma University spaces are booked for events (does not include booking the weekly board meetings space.
-
Ensuring that Algoma technology is booked for events (i.e., microphones for speakers).
-
Working in collaboration with the Vice President of Events and other Events team members to determine the purchasing needs for each event;
-
Create and keep an extensive database of contacts, suppliers, and locations for the industry.
-
Address any problems that come up on the day of the event and Manage volunteers/event personnel.
Financial Controller
​
The Financial Controller is part of the Finance portfolio and is responsible for, but not limited to:
-
Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
-
Identifies financial status by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts.
-
Increase productivity by developing automated applications; coordinating information requirements.
-
Make financial information available to all AUBS members.
-
Working very closely and proficiently with Microsoft Excel & Google Sheets.
-
Attend all meetings held by the VP of Finance, as well as full council meetings.
-
In the event that the Vice President of Finance is unable to fulfill their duties due to absence or resignation, the Financial Controller will manage their duties.
AUBS Treasurer

The Treasurer is part of the Finance portfolio and is responsible for, but not limited to:
-
Keeping records of money spent by the Algoma University Business Society throughout the year.

Documents financial transactions by entering account information.
-
Advising the VP of Finance on the state of the Algoma University Business Society funds.
-
Record entries based on the bank statements provided by the VP of Finance.
-
Working very closely and proficiently with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
-
Attend all meetings held by the VP of Finance, as well as full council meetings.
Website Director
​
The Website Director is part of the Marketing Portfolio and is responsible for, but not limited to:
​
-
Maintaining the Algoma University Business Society website which includes uploading pictures from all events, updating content (executive information, club information, etc.)
-
The Website Director must be reasonably skilled with computer technology and can quickly and accurately update the website.
-
Prior experience in Wix & Square is considered an asset for this position.
-
Report directly to the VP Marketing and responsible for attending Marketing Team meetings and all full council meetings.
-
Responsible for retrieving necessary information directly from VP of Marketing regarding events
Merchandise Director
​
The Merchandise Director is part of the Marketing Portfolio and is responsible for, but not limited to:
​
-
Managing the merchandise; holding meetings; communicating with the Marketing team and the supplier.
-
Creation of clothing design ideas and concepts for the AUBS collection.
-
Executing market research surveys.
-
In class promotions and awareness of products
-
Finding high-in-quality manufacturers for various products.
